Surya Namaskar is named the salutation of the Sun – a practice of traditionally 12 Asanas, practiced in the early morning in rhythm with the breath. As the sun is rising slowly to come to its full power we do not have to bring our full potential of performance right in the early morning. Instead we are allowed to unfold it step-by-step, breath by breath. Beginning with the traditional sequence we will gradually add some further asanas. We are flowing with our breath through the whole practice – this will give us the possibility to warm up slowly – right if the sun is waking us with its rays of light. If we are able to let the body follow the breath and not the other way round, the asana practice can become meditation in movement.
Breathwork counts to one of the oldest therapeutic methods. Breath is Life. Breath is the connection of Body and Mind, internal and external processes, the conscious and the unconscious. This Workshop teaches you how to consciously discern your breath and to use its power. Specific exercises help you find the balance between activity and regeneration, to improve your perception of your body and yourself and to activate your inner healing reciprocal effects between body and mind. Breathing with awareness can appease pain and restraint, helps with psychological and physiologic disturbance; it also lowers blood pressure and much more. In this workshop a new space of breath and meditation will be created. You will receive basic information and techniques, which are easy to integrate in your daily routine.
In this class, postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body. Breathing techniques and meditation are also integrated. You can expect an emphasis on simplicity, repetition, and ease of movement. Full-body relaxation and balance are the goals.
What about hearing your own heartbeat during the yoga practice? Being not distracted by anything – instead being absorbed completely in yourself. This is the idea behind «Silent Yoga. In this class we practise without words but still together and slowly very slowly it’s not important anymore if everything is done in the absolutely correct and official way. There is no space for pressure of performance; instead the body can talk to you and let you know what is adequate today. We will practice calm Asanas and hold them 5 deep long breath – totally aware in silence to be able to hear what your self wants to say to you.

Chi-Dance is a subtle dance with the Chi, the all-flowing divine life energy. We get to know the basic principles of Tai-Chi, to perceive Yin and Yang qualities and, with increased sensitivity to the energy within and around us, to improvise freely with these elements. In a secure atmosphere, carried by the earth and music, we can let go our judgment about what dance should look like or how we should look dancing, and instead, let our intuition choreograph those nourishing feel-good movements that integrate mind, body, and spirit into a vibrant connection to life. We do not learn to dance something rehearsed; instead, we become aware that we are the energy, vibration, and play of motion we call DANCE.

The actual base of India’s spiritual culture is dharma – the universal law of proper and ethical conduct. Each living entity has – in harmony with nature and all living entities – a specific duty to perform. Dharma fulfills both the material and spiritual criteria of every soul. However, it’s perfection is reached when it is combined with bhakti – pure love. The workshop offers both theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as tools to understand and fulfill one’s individual dharma in relation to bhakti.

Meditation and photography have a lot in common: both are related to the now, both require focus and attention and work best when the mind is quiet and unbiased. In the workshop "Photography and Meditation" the photo artist Miriam Ferstl will give an insight into photography as a source of real inspiration. She will also talk about her own photographic work, which focuses on topics such as light, focus and clarity. In good weather, there will also be a practical part where the participants can follow their own photographic intuition and throw new perspectives on the landscape around the beautiful Schweibenalp. A professional camera is conducive, but not necessary.
